EBRD investments in Moldovan energy projects exceed 518 million euros

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s investments in energy projects in the Republic of Moldova currently exceed 518 million euros. Ongoing energy projects, as well as planned investments, were discussed during a meeting between the Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, and the EBRD Vice President, Matteo Patrone, reports IPN.

“EBRD is one of the most important partners of the Republic of Moldova in modernizing the energy sector,” declared Dorin Junghietu.

One of the projects discussed is the Balti-Suceava electrical interconnection (400 kV), with a total budget of 77 million euros. This includes the construction of a high-voltage overhead line and the modernization of several electrical stations in the Republic of Moldova.

“The projects that we implement together strengthen the resilience of the energy system, accelerate integration into the European energy market, and support the transition to a modern, efficient, and sustainable energy system,” declared Matteo Patrone.

The Ministry of Energy notes that, within the framework of cooperation, the financing mechanism for the security of natural gas supply is also implemented. The tool has allowed the acquisition of 96% of the gas needed for the right bank of the Republic of Moldova in the cold season 2025-2026.

Users from several countries reported connection issues with Facebook on Sunday. The number of reports rapidly increased during the morning, suggesting a possible widespread malfunction, according to the Downdetector platform, quoted by IPN.

According to reports in the international press, users are experiencing difficulties with authentication, loading the news feed, and using some features of the social network. It is not yet clear whether other services of the Meta company are also affected.

In Moldova, there are issues with browser connectivity, but access through the application is possible. Until this time, Meta company has not provided an explanation for the cause of the incident nor a timeline for its resolution. In the absence of an official confirmation, the exact extent of the disruption remains unclear.

The Downdetector platform monitors online service interruptions and centralizes user reports and other data regarding their functionality. A sudden increase in notifications usually indicates the existence of a technical problem.
