An earthquake occurred on Saturday, near lunchtime, in the Vrancea seismic area, Buzau. According to the National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development, the quake had a local magnitude of 3.7, being classified in the category of weak earthquakes, reports IPN.
“On August 2, 2025, at 11:42:23 AM (local time in Romania), a minor earthquake occurred in the Vrancea seismic area, Buzau, with a magnitude of ML 3.7, at a depth of 115.4 km”, the cited source specifies.
The strongest earthquakes recorded in Romania this year had a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale and occurred in the months of February and May.
