Students from 13 schools, who until now used outdoor toilets, will have new sanitary blocks, arranged inside the institutions. In six other schools, the existing sanitary groups will be modernized. In total, nearly 8,000 students will have better hygiene and sanitation conditions, reports IPN.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research, schools were selected based on several important criteria: the existence or lack of functional sanitary blocks, the need for renovation, the integration of accessibility for people with disabilities, and the available space for new constructions.
The value of the approved projects is almost 38 million lei, most of which comes from the state budget – 36 million, and 1.89 million lei – allocated by local authorities. A reserve list includes four more schools, with projects worth 7.9 million lei, which will be funded depending on the availability of funds.
This is the fourth edition of the project to improve hygiene conditions in schools. In previous editions, sanitary groups were renovated in over 60 institutions across the country. Currently, there are 70 schools that still do not have a sanitary block within the institution.
