A state secretary within the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the representative of an economic agent have been detained by law enforcement in a criminal case initiated on corruption charges, reports IPN.
According to the CNA, the representative of the economic agent would have transmitted money to the Secretary of State so that he could influence people with responsibility within the National Agency for Food Safety in order to resume the permission to import feed for birds and animals from Ukraine. Previously, the import procedure had been suspended by ANSA following irregularities found during the controls carried out.
The officers of the CNA and anti-corruption prosecutors are conducting searches in the office of the Secretary of State within the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, as well as at other addresses, with the aim of gathering and consolidating evidence.
The criminal proceedings continue with the aim of determining all the circumstances of the case, identifying all the individuals involved, and documenting the entire criminal activity, the source further specifies.
Asked for a reaction, the information and mass-media communication service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry stated that it does not hold official information on this subject.
