The “Eugen Doga” International Airport in Chisinau ranked first in the Aci Europe report, in the category of medium-sized airports, with a 45.5% increase in passenger traffic over the course of a year, reports IPN.
According to the airport administration, this performance, recorded in September, compared to the same month last year, places Moldova’s airport in first place in Europe in terms of growth, contributing to the positive evolution of traffic from non-EU countries. In this area, the increase was 8.3%, more than twice the continental average.
At the European level, passenger traffic increased by 3.6%. The demand for international flights was higher than for domestic ones, with an increase of 4.3% compared to 1%.
According to the Aci Europe report, medium-sized airports handle between 1 million and 10 million passengers annually.
