Four individuals have been detained in the Rascani sector of the capital, after allegedly receiving a bribe of 40 thousand euros. According to the National Anticorruption Center, the money was allegedly requested to intervene in a criminal case and obtain a favorable decision. The NAC did not provide details about the individuals involved, reports IPN.
According to the case materials, the suspects allegedly claimed to have influence over some public figures and promised to facilitate the release of a person initially convicted, thus avoiding criminal punishment.
The transfer of money took place under the supervision of CNA officers. As a result of the searches conducted, the entire sum of 40 thousand euros was seized, as well as electronic devices used for the prior arrangement of committing the offense.
The four individuals have been detained for 72 hours and are to be placed in isolation.
