Additional loan from BERD for the repair of four national roads

The Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee of the Parliament has approved the initiation of negotiations and the signing of the amendment to the loan agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERD), regarding the implementation of construction and road rehabilitation works. The amendment provides for an additional funding of 40 million euros for the rehabilitation of four national roads, reports IPN.

After accessing the additional loan, the total value of the financing provided by the BERD for the “Rehabilitation of Roads in Moldova IV” Project will reach 290 million euros.

The loan agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the BERD was ratified in 2013 and has been amended three times to date. To initiate negotiations on additional financing, the amendment to the agreement is to be ratified by the full Parliament.

The repair works are to be carried out on the following sections: Road R14, R6 – Codrul Nou – Soroca – Unguri – border with Ukraine, Soroca – Arionesti sector; Road R8.1, R8 – Arionesti – R14, Arionesti – Otaci sector; Road M3 Chisinau – Comrat – Giurgiulesti – border with Romania, the bypass sector of the city of Vulcanesti; Road R33 Hancesti – Lapusna – M1.

Users from several countries reported connection issues with Facebook on Sunday. The number of reports rapidly increased during the morning, suggesting a possible widespread malfunction, according to the Downdetector platform, quoted by IPN.

According to reports in the international press, users are experiencing difficulties with authentication, loading the news feed, and using some features of the social network. It is not yet clear whether other services of the Meta company are also affected.

In Moldova, there are issues with browser connectivity, but access through the application is possible. Until this time, Meta company has not provided an explanation for the cause of the incident nor a timeline for its resolution. In the absence of an official confirmation, the exact extent of the disruption remains unclear.

The Downdetector platform monitors online service interruptions and centralizes user reports and other data regarding their functionality. A sudden increase in notifications usually indicates the existence of a technical problem.
