The severe storms in Romania have wreaked havoc in several counties. The National Meteorological Administration announced red and orange storm alerts, with large hail, warnings of torrential rains, electrical discharges, and wind intensifications, reports IPN.
Strong gusts of wind of over 80 km/h have knocked down trees in the eastern part of the country. And in the town of Pastraveni, in Neamt county, a tree was brought down by a storm onto a moving car. Another tree fell onto the road in the town of Lunca Moldovei, while another one fell onto a national road in Bicaz-Chei, reported Antena 3 CNN.
In several localities in Neamt, Iasi, and Suceava, large-sized hail has destroyed crops and house roofs. Surveillance cameras captured the powerful ice storm in Neamt, on the border with Suceava and Iași counties.
Meteorologists from the Republic of Moldova, similarly, have issued a yellow code for atmospheric instability. The warning is valid for the entire country until Thursday morning at 5:00 AM.
The State Hydrometeorological Service forecasts electrical discharges, heavy showers, with water accumulations between 15 and 45 l/m², hail, and gusts of up to 15-20 m/s.
