The Central Electoral Commission accredited, during the Sunday meeting, 30 international observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), reports IPN.
The head of the election observation mission, Jillian Stirk, specified during a meeting with members of the Central Electoral Commission that long-term observers will be deployed in the field immediately after the completion of accreditation procedures. As the election date approaches, about 200 short-term observers will also arrive in Moldova, who will monitor the conduct of the vote on election day.
The core team of the mission consists of 15 international experts, representing 14 member states of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The first members of the mission arrived in the country on August 13.
Two weeks before the parliamentary election day, ODIHR will publish an interim monitoring report, with the final report to be presented a few months after the conclusion of the electoral process.
According to the electoral legislation, the deadline for submitting observer accreditation requests is September 21.
