30 OSCE/ODIHR observers, accredited by the CEC, will soon be deployed in Moldova

The Central Electoral Commission accredited, during the Sunday meeting, 30 international observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), reports IPN.

The head of the election observation mission, Jillian Stirk, specified during a meeting with members of the Central Electoral Commission that long-term observers will be deployed in the field immediately after the completion of accreditation procedures. As the election date approaches, about 200 short-term observers will also arrive in Moldova, who will monitor the conduct of the vote on election day.

The core team of the mission consists of 15 international experts, representing 14 member states of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The first members of the mission arrived in the country on August 13.

Two weeks before the parliamentary election day, ODIHR will publish an interim monitoring report, with the final report to be presented a few months after the conclusion of the electoral process.

According to the electoral legislation, the deadline for submitting observer accreditation requests is September 21.

Users from several countries reported connection issues with Facebook on Sunday. The number of reports rapidly increased during the morning, suggesting a possible widespread malfunction, according to the Downdetector platform, quoted by IPN.

According to reports in the international press, users are experiencing difficulties with authentication, loading the news feed, and using some features of the social network. It is not yet clear whether other services of the Meta company are also affected.

In Moldova, there are issues with browser connectivity, but access through the application is possible. Until this time, Meta company has not provided an explanation for the cause of the incident nor a timeline for its resolution. In the absence of an official confirmation, the exact extent of the disruption remains unclear.

The Downdetector platform monitors online service interruptions and centralizes user reports and other data regarding their functionality. A sudden increase in notifications usually indicates the existence of a technical problem.
