The largest part of the restrictions will be lifted as from June 1, but the citizens until then should be prudent and should obey the rules, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated after the May 18 meeting of senior state officials.

IPN quoted Premier Chicu as saying that the markets in Chisinau and Bălţi could be reopened on May 31. The hospitality industry could also resume work then.

On May 18, the Government will approve a number of bills that specify the measures that will be taken to offer additional support to the people and companies that have been affected by the pandemic, including the tourism industry.  Ion Chicu called on the tourists to reschedule their vacations so as to help the tourism sector remain sustainable.
