The Ukrainian presidential plane was targeted by Russian drones twice while over Moldovan territory. This statement was made by Kyiv leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with CBS News, in which he emphasized that this is part of a deliberate Russian strategy to intimidate him and other Western leaders, IPN reports.

Norway was the first to publicly signal the incident. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store stated that Zelensky’s aircraft was nearly hit by a drone in the airspace of Moldova, on September 8th, when the Ukrainian leader was taking off for Oslo to attend the funeral of King Harald.

The Ukrainian president stated that the second incident, which has not been made public until now, occurred a few days later, on the return route to Ukraine, again through Chisinau, where one or two drones would have illegally flown over the airspace of Moldova.

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelensky also mentioned the drone attack on Sunday, September 13, on a train at the Ukrainian border with Poland. Half an hour earlier, another train had crossed the border at the same point, carrying foreign dignitaries, including high-ranking European officials and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. According to the Ukrainian president, the actual target of the attack was the diplomatic train, which had changed its departure time at the last minute precisely because of threats from Russian drones.
