Sixty voters cast their ballots by 9:00 A.M. in Bolduresti commune, which represents 2.07% of the number of voters expected to vote on Sunday. The three polling stations opened at 07:00 A.M. and voting will continue until 09:00 P.M., IPN reports.

The repeated voting in the second round of the new local elections for the post of mayor in Bolduresti commune, Nisporeni district, takes place after the Central Electoral Commission reconfirmed the nullity of the results of the June 1 elections (second round), upholding the irrevocable ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice.

There is only one candidate left in the race for today’s elections, with the “Withdrawn” stamp stamped next to the other candidate.

The Central Electoral Commission canceled the registration of Nicanor Ciochina on July 18, following an appeal filed by his opponent, Sergiu Bulicanu. The decision was based on the fact that the former candidate did not suspend himself from office and used administrative resources for electoral purposes.

Nicanor Ciochină lost his mayoral mandate because he was unable to carry out his duties between May 31, 2024 and February 14, 2025, as he was in pre-trial detention, under criminal investigation for the fatal accident of a teenager in February 2024, leaving the scene of the crime and attempting to conceal the traces of the crime. He was re-elected on June 1, but the result sparked much public controversy and was later overturned by the court.

A total of 2883 voters are registered in Bolduresti. In a repeat vote, the election is declared valid regardless of the number of voters who participated.
