Victory March, organized in Chisinau

In Chisinau, the Victory March took place, dedicated to the commemoration of the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazism. Participants set off from the center of the capital towards the “Eternity” Memorial Complex, where commemorative actions for the victims of the Second World War are organized. The demonstration was organized by the Socialist Party and the Communist Party, joined by representatives of other opposition formations, reports IPN.

“Tens of thousands of people at the Victory March in Chisinau – despite prohibitions and restrictions. We remember, we are proud,” declared Igor Dodon, at the beginning of the demonstration. The socialist leader wore, as in previous years, the ribbon of Saint George, even though it was banned in 2022.

Alongside Igor Dodon, the socialist deputies Vlad Batrîncea, Zinaida Greceanîi, Pavel Voicu, the deputies of the Communist Party – Constantin Starîș and Diana Caraman, the unaffiliated deputy Vasile Tarlev and the former governor of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, marched. “We celebrate with tears in our eyes and immense gratitude in our souls. We say thank you to the heroes who defeated fascism and gave us life,” said Irina Vlah.

This year, on May 9, marks 81 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe. In the Republic of Moldova, the day has a double significance, being marked both as Victory Day and Europe Day.

Meteorologists have issued a yellow heatwave warning for this weekend. In most parts of the country, the maximum temperatures will reach +34 degrees Celsius, reports IPN.

The warning is valid for the center, south, and east of the country. Several districts in the north are also under the yellow code. The northernmost districts of the country such as Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Drochia, Soroca, Glodeni, Rascani, and Donduseni – are not affected by the warning.

According to the Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, the warning can be updated depending on the evolution of weather phenomena.

During periods of heatwave, authorities recommend people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, to consume enough fluids, and to pay increased attention to children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions.
