Moldovan customs officers discovered undeclared diamonds in a postal parcel sent from India and addressed to a resident of the Republic of Moldova. The precious stones were seized and may be confiscated if the court so decides, IPN reports.
The case was registered at the Chisinau 4 customs post (PVI Posta). Customs officials examined the contents of the parcel and, in addition to the declared jewelry, found 30 stones presumed to be precious, which were not listed in the accompanying documents.
Laboratory tests confirmed that these stones are diamonds. The case is being further investigated as a misdemeanor, and the package has been seized pending the court’s decision.
