Third medal for Moldovan wrestlers at the European Championships in Skopje

The wrestler Irina Terzi became European Under 17 vice-champion, a performance previously achieved by Ignat Meico in the men’s event. The medal won by Irina Terzi is the third won by Moldovan athletes at the European Wrestling Championships in Skopje, North Macedonia.

In the Macedonian capital, Irina Terzi defeated Emine Bariskan and Nurana Asadli to qualify for the final of the 43 kg weight category. In the battle for the gold medal, the Moldovan athlete was beaten by Russian Raniia Rakhmanova.

Just like Irina Terzi, Greco-Roman wrestler Ignat Meico became European vice-champion, losing to Georgian Giori Gogelashvili in the final of the 71kg category.

In the 45 kg category, Vadim Tarelunga won the bronze medal after defeating Artem Tkachenko. Cristin Zaporojan will also compete for the bronze medal in the 65 kg category.

The competition in North Macedonia will end on Sunday.



Meteorologists have issued a yellow heatwave warning for this weekend. In most parts of the country, the maximum temperatures will reach +34 degrees Celsius, reports IPN.

The warning is valid for the center, south, and east of the country. Several districts in the north are also under the yellow code. The northernmost districts of the country such as Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Drochia, Soroca, Glodeni, Rascani, and Donduseni – are not affected by the warning.

According to the Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, the warning can be updated depending on the evolution of weather phenomena.

During periods of heatwave, authorities recommend people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, to consume enough fluids, and to pay increased attention to children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions.
