The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, have conveyed messages of solidarity and encouragement to the theatrical community and spectators, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary edition of the Reunion of Romanian National Theaters, which begins on Wednesday in Chișinău and is held under the high patronage of the two heads of state, reports IPN.
According to Maia Sandu, ten years ago, the initiative to organize this cultural event took shape through the belief that theater can be a unifying force in the face of pressures and propaganda. “Thus, the Reunion was and remains a call to truth. Through stage, lights, voices and gestures, it unites hearts and minds, beyond borders and times,” Maia Sandu mentioned in her message addressed on the occasion of the event.
The President of Romania mentioned that, these days, Chisinau is becoming a space for artistic freedom. “In a world marked by conflicts, ideological manipulation, and extremism, the theater offers an alternative framework for reflection, for sincere confrontation with reality, and for authentic human interaction,” according to the message conveyed by Nicusor Dan.
The 10th edition, under the theme “Stage of a Free World”, becomes a space for debate and free expression, where theater transforms into an act of consciousness, a forefront of affective and intelligent connections, hearts and minds resonating together, as stated in a post by the “Mihai Eminescu” National Theater.
The meeting will take place from September 10 to 21, mainly in Chisinau, and for the first time it will extend to the cities of Cahul and Balti. The program includes 45 events, from theater performances and radio auditions, to book launches, conferences, and exhibitions, thus consolidating the status of the meeting as a theatrical gala and an essential platform for cultural diplomacy.
