Katarina Fried is ending her term as Sweden’s ambassador to Moldova. In this context, Prime Minister Dorin Recean met with the Swedish diplomat at the Government headquarters and thanked her for her contribution to the development of bilateral relations and for her support for the European path, IPN reports.
The Prime Minister appreciated Sweden’s constant support, as it is one of Moldova’s most important bilateral donors. The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency funds projects in areas such as good governance, sustainable development, and social inclusion.
“We see the results of your work and our joint efforts. Your strong support for our democratic reforms and European aspirations has a lasting impact,” said Dorin Recean.
In addition to reviewing the mandate, discussions also focused on prospects for future Moldovan-Swedish cooperation. Officials discussed attracting Swedish investment in green energy, cybersecurity, information technology, and manufacturing.
Another topic discussed was cooperation in the field of security. The ambassador and the prime minister discussed Sweden’s support in strengthening Moldova’s cyber resilience, as well as joint efforts to ensure fair elections in the fall and combat disinformation. The launch of direct flights between Chisinau and Stockholm, scheduled for June, was also mentioned.
