“Please, dear Moldova, keep going” – a poetic tribute to the Romanian language from the European Union Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Jānis Mažeiks, at the end of his term. On Romanian Language Day, the EU ambassador bid farewell with a message expressing his admiration for the Romanian language and his gratitude for the years spent in Moldova, IPN reports.

The diplomat chose to do so through an artistic gesture, a poem dedicated to the Romanian language and the Moldovan spirit, written in collaboration with Ionela Hadarca. The lyrics reflect his experiences during his four-year term, his sincere closeness to the local culture, and the spiritual bond that developed between him and the people of this country.

“Today, we celebrate Romanian Language Day, and for me this is a day with double significance: it also marks the end of my term in the Republic of Moldova. Happy Romanian Language Day! Thank you, Republic of Moldova, for everything I have experienced here!” said Mažeiks.

The recited poem conveys a message of unity and European belonging.

Meteorologists have issued a yellow heatwave warning for this weekend. In most parts of the country, the maximum temperatures will reach +34 degrees Celsius, reports IPN.

The warning is valid for the center, south, and east of the country. Several districts in the north are also under the yellow code. The northernmost districts of the country such as Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Drochia, Soroca, Glodeni, Rascani, and Donduseni – are not affected by the warning.

According to the Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, the warning can be updated depending on the evolution of weather phenomena.

During periods of heatwave, authorities recommend people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, to consume enough fluids, and to pay increased attention to children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions.
