The resignation of Nicolae Ormanji from the position of interim president of the Popular Assembly of Gagauzia remained unresolved, after the legislative session in Comrat lacked a quorum. After examining the subject, at the time of voting on the decision project, some deputies refused to vote, while others left the room, reports IPN.
According to the procedure presented during the meeting, after Nicolae Ormanji’s withdrawal, the duties of the interim president of the People’s Assembly are to be taken over by Vice President Gheorghe Leiciu until a new regional legislative leadership is designated. The People’s Assembly regulations also stipulate that the president’s duties can be temporarily exercised by one of the vice presidents during his absence.
During the debates, Leiciu stated that blocking the procedure risks creating difficulties in the legislative activity, as the institution must have a person responsible for signing official documents and exercising administrative duties.
Nicolae Ormanji submitted his resignation on June 2, following a failed APG meeting due to lack of quorum. The deputies from Comrat were then supposed to adopt the regulation regarding the organization of elections for the new composition of the Popular Assembly.
