Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has requested all authorities and budgetary institutions to institute strict control over public expenditures and to review the procurement plans for this year. According to a document signed by the Prime Minister and submitted to the institutions, the decision was made in the context of international economic pressures and rising energy and fuel costs, reports IPN.
According to the head of the Government, the state must set the first example of financial discipline and responsibility in the use of public money. “In a tense international economic context and with increasing pressures on energy and fuel prices, the state must set the first example of financial discipline and responsibility towards public money,” mentioned Alexandru Munteanu.
According to the document, non-critical purchases will be reduced by at least 10%. At the same time, the expenses for service transportation and the number of transportation units of public institutions are to be reduced by a minimum of 20%. The Prime Minister emphasized that public resources should be primarily directed towards essential areas, such as infrastructure, the operation of the state’s basic services, and maintaining economic stability.
