Sixty-nine citizens were led to police stations following attempts to organize unauthorized protests, at the call of the fugitive convict Ilan Șor. The General Inspectorate of Police mentions that, although the protesters gathered in small numbers, “they tried several provocations against legal institutions, but also against ordinary citizens,” reports IPN.
According to the IGP, the protesters tried to block traffic lanes, consumed alcohol in public spaces, and involved minors in their activities, thus violating the law. Also, the police documented a case of destruction of a service car window and transportation of electoral materials without provenance documents.
“Due to the repeated attempts of the criminal group “Shor” to create provocations and destabilization, the Police had to increase vigilance, including in traffic, on national roads. In this context, we apologize for any inconvenience caused to citizens in the process of ensuring public order,” is stated in a communique from the institution.
In total, on Saturday, approximately 150 reports on offenses were compiled. Most of these are related to the corruption of meeting participants and the violation of vehicle operation rules.
The police urge citizens to abide by the law and not to be drawn into illegal activities, masqueraded as protests, for which financial rewards are promised.
