The high representative of the EU reiterates support for Moldova’s integration process

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, reiterated today the EU’s commitment to support the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova. The statements were made during a meeting with Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean in Brussels, where the meeting of the Association Council between the Republic of Moldova and the EU took place, as reported by IPN.

Kaja Kallas emphasized the importance of continuing reforms and strengthening democratic institutions. The official highlighted the impact of the Economic Growth Plan and the support provided through the European Instrument for Peace, which helps the Republic of Moldova to strengthen its institutions in the field of security and defense.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed that the government’s priority is for the Republic of Moldova to become, as soon as possible, part of the larger European family. “For us, this means peace, stability, and a good future for our children at home”, declared the prime minister, as quoted in a government press release.

The two officials chaired on Wednesday, in Brussels, the ninth meeting of the Republic of Moldova – European Union Association Council.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, conducted a working visit to the Republic of Moldova on 23-24 April of this year, marking her first official visit to Chisinau since taking office.

A 29-year-old young man lost his life after the car he was driving went off the road and overturned on a plot of land near the M1 national road, in the Hancesti district. According to preliminary information, as a result of the impact, he was thrown from the car and died on the spot, reports IPN.

The General Inspectorate of Police reports that on Saturday morning, the Hancesti police were alerted about a car overturned off the road and intervened on the spot together with specialized teams.

According to preliminary information, the driver lost control of the steering wheel in a curve, and the car left the road and overturned.

Law enforcement officials mention that investigations continue to establish all the circumstances of the accident. The biological and traceological expertise are to determine whether the driver had consumed alcohol and what were the conditions under which the car skidded off the road.
