Owners who rent out homes and other real estate properties have paid taxes amounting to 52.4 million lei in the first seven months of the year. The State Fiscal Service specifies that this amount is 28.1% higher compared to the same period last year, reports IPN.
A total of 1051 individuals have voluntarily reported that they earn income from renting real estate and have paid the taxes stipulated by law. Another 127 individuals were identified following checks carried out by tax inspectors. In their case, basic payments amounting to 285 thousand lei were calculated, late increases amounting to 14 thousand lei, and fines were applied averaging 16.4 thousand lei.
In total, during the period from January to July 2025, just over 17 thousand real estate lease contracts were recorded.
The tax that property owners pay is 7% of the monthly value of the lease contract. The contract must be registered with the State Tax Service within 7 days from the date of signing. The tax is paid monthly, no later than the 25th of the current month.
