In the conversation that lasted over 90 minutes, the two discussed the war in Iran and a possible 24-hour armistice for May 9, which marks Victory Day against Nazi Germany. Putin welcomed the armistice announced by Trump in the Middle East conflict and offered to take over Iran’s enriched uranium stocks to unblock peace negotiations. On the other hand, the American president conveyed that before getting involved in efforts to resolve the Middle East conflict, Vladimir Putin should focus on a peace agreement in Ukraine.

On the other hand, Vladimir Putin emphasized that Russia’s objectives in Ukraine will be achieved, mentioning that he would prefer a negotiated solution, provided that Kiev accepts the proposals previously made by Moscow. Among these are the complete surrender of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, including territories currently controlled by Ukrainian forces, a request that the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has categorically rejected.
