Moldova and Ukraine reaffirm commitment to move forward together on the European path

Moldova and Ukraine reaffirm their commitment to move forward together on the European path in mutual support. For the two countries, the European Union is a project of peace, and membership of this family is a goal of both countries. The statements were made at a joint press conference held in Chisinau by Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, and Olga Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, IPN reports.

Cristina Gherasimov recalled the terrible price that neighbors are paying for freedom, in the context of the recent bloody attacks in Ukraine, noting that Moldova feels every echo of this struggle. She thanked Ukraine that Moldova is safe thanks to the Ukrainian people. Likewise, she said that Moldova supports and will continue to support Ukraine politically, diplomatically and humanitarian.

The EU is a project born out of a desire not to repeat the horrors of war. Moldova and Ukraine see the EU as a peace project, and both countries want to be part of this peace project.

For his part, Olha Stefanishyna, reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to move forward together with Moldova on the path towards the EU. Ukraine is working intensively to fulfill its reform agenda.

The common goal of Ukraine and Moldova must remain unchanged. In June 2022, the countries pledged to move forward together, whatever the circumstances. Moldova can always count on Ukraine, emphasized Olha Stefanishyna.

Commenting on EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, who said that the European Union is considering the possibility of continuing the accession process with the Republic of Moldova, decoupling it from Ukraine, as Ukraine’s efforts to join the EU are blocked by Hungary, the Ukrainian official emphasized that Ukraine and Moldova are going hand in hand and she is convinced that together they are stronger and will join the European family.

Meteorologists have issued a yellow heatwave warning for this weekend. In most parts of the country, the maximum temperatures will reach +34 degrees Celsius, reports IPN.

The warning is valid for the center, south, and east of the country. Several districts in the north are also under the yellow code. The northernmost districts of the country such as Briceni, Ocnita, Edinet, Drochia, Soroca, Glodeni, Rascani, and Donduseni – are not affected by the warning.

According to the Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring, the warning can be updated depending on the evolution of weather phenomena.

During periods of heatwave, authorities recommend people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours, to consume enough fluids, and to pay increased attention to children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions.
