The NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, reiterated the Alliance’s support for the Republic of Moldova and the readiness to continue cooperation with the authorities in Chisinau in modernizing the security and defense sector. The statement was made in Brussels, during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, reports IPN.
According to the MAE, the officials’ discussions focused on the evolution and prospects of the partnership between Moldova and NATO, and addressed the strengthening of national resilience, alignment with Euro-Atlantic standards, and contribution to regional stability, including in the Black Sea area.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi stated that, in recent years, cooperation between Moldova and NATO has become practical, focused on concrete results. “The ability of the Republic of Moldova to cope with the multiple interferences in recent times is a clear proof of the resilience and unity of our society, as well as the solidarity of partners,” said the official.
In turn, the NATO Secretary General emphasized that the relationship between the Alliance and Moldova is based on a solid partnership, developed over the last three decades. “We appreciate the efforts made by the Republic of Moldova in the context of current challenges and welcome the determination to continue the European path, as well as the constant support given to Ukraine,” said Mark Rutte, quoted in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
