The Action and Solidarity Party accuses an attempt at intimidation after the incident that took place on Saturday night, when an unknown person threw an explosive device into the yard of the mayor of Stauceni, Alexandru Vornicu. From the images capturing the moment of the explosion, it can be seen that no member of the family was harmed, IPN reports.
“It is a despicable and barbaric way to try to scare people who are fighting for justice and a good life at home. I am confident that the police will thoroughly investigate the case and that those responsible will be held accountable. We stand with our colleague and his family”, PAS leader Igor Grosu wrote on Facebook.
Mayor Alexandru Vornicu described the incident as “serious and inexplicable.” “At 1:57 AM, someone parked their car in front of my house, threw an explosive device, and drove away. The police will be investigating the case”, the mayor said.
The police have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrator of the attack.
