The government and social partners are suggested to conclude an agreement for promoting the guide for job evaluation from the perspective of work value. The document, which explains the concepts as well as the obligations of employers, is 70% complete, specified the representative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection during the hearings organized by the Women Deputies Platform to assess the implementation stage of the provisions of the law on wage equality, reports IPN.
The Platform for Gender Equality has highlighted the need for adjusting the Administrative Code and strengthening control institutions. It also mentioned the importance of refining the methodology for calculating wage disparities, considering that reporting is done based on total wages, without taking into account actual working time. At the same time, the need for conducting research at the enterprise level and carrying out information campaigns was emphasized.
“Our country has achieved successes in terms of gender equality. Up to now, great efforts have been made, including by the Parliament. We need to continue identifying mechanisms for implementing the law. It’s important to connect interested people and to value their knowledge,” declared the deputy Larisa Novac.
The National Bureau of Statistics is in the process of developing the Employee Budget Register, in which data is collected from central and local public authorities, with the aim of providing a useful information base, including for monitoring wage disparities.
Women have to work, on average, two months longer to earn the same salary as men. The monthly wage gap exceeds an average of 15%. The difference is even greater in high-skilled sectors, such as finance and insurance, where women earn over 34% less than men.
