Employees and former employees from Penitentiary No. 17 in Rezina and from the National Administration of Penitentiaries were targeted in today’s searches in the investigation regarding the application of the amnesty law. Information in this regard was confirmed for IPN by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. PA sources added that there are also “other tangential people” involved.
According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, investigations are being conducted in a criminal case involving acts of active and passive corruption committed in the process of applying amnesty to several prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment.
The raids were carried out in collaboration with the National Anticorruption Center, in several locations across the country. Law enforcement officials have announced that during the searches, documents and evidence relevant to the investigation were seized.
