Parliament’s decision on setting the parliamentary elections for September 28 has been published in the Official Gazette. This means that the electoral period can begin, but not until the Central Electoral Commission has issued a decision, IPN reports.
“Publication of the Parliament’s decision in the Official Gazette does not automatically mean the start of the electoral period. The start of the electoral period will be approved by CEC decision within a reasonable time”, CEC Deputy Chairman Pavel Postica said at Friday’s meeting.
As of the date of publication in the Official Gazette, pre-registration of Moldovan citizens with the right to vote abroad can be started. The procedure will be launched on April 22, as some technical adjustments are still needed.
The term of the current legislature expires on July 11.
