The Moldovan capital is ready to welcome the delegations to the European Armwrestling and Para Armwrestling Championships, to be held for the first time in Chisinau, announced representatives of the City Hall, which co-organizes the event. More than a thousand athletes, supporters and media are expected to attend.
Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban told a press conference on this occasion that the City Hall made maximum efforts for this event to take place, including financially and organizationally. He added that “many interesting, sporty and dynamic people” are expected in Chisinau.
The official opening will take place on June 11 at 4:00 AM. Europe’s best athletes will compete for 306 sets of medals among juniors, masters, seniors, and all Paralympic categories.
“It is very important that many people come to Moldova to visit us and that we combine the useful with the pleasant”, the mayor emphasized, adding that this year several sports events are planned.
Alexandru Grumeza, president of the National Armwrestling Federation, welcomed the fact that the City Hall has been receptive and supported the event, so that the participants of the championship can appreciate Chisinau as a European capital.
Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports, welcomed the event and expressed his confidence that the sports federations will be able to continue bringing championships of this level to the Moldovan capital.
More than a thousand athletes from 30 countries will participate in the 32nd edition of the European Armwrestling and Para Armwrestling Championships. The event will take place at the Moldexpo Center in Chisinau, until June 17. On the margins of the event, a fair of Moldovan food and non-food products will also be held.
