Card payments at Lukoil gas stations in Moldova have been resumed. This occurs in the context of the recent decision by the USA to temporarily allow certain operations of the company outside Russia, until October 2026, reports IPN.
The resumption of card payments at Lukoil stations takes place after approximately two months during which the service was affected by international financial restrictions. During this period, at the gas stations, only cash payment was accepted.
The license issued by the USA allows the conduct of transactions deemed necessary for the operation, maintenance or gradual closure of fuel stations outside of Russia, within the limits of the sanctions regime. At the same time, American authorities emphasize that this measure does not lift existing restrictions and does not allow fund transfers to Russia or the involvement of sanctioned financial institutions.
The decision specifies that the measure is part of Washington’s efforts to allow the controlled management of Russian companies’ operations from outside the country, without weakening the pressure of the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation.
