Two more aspirants for mayoralty of Chisinau

Two more persons submitted the required documents to the Chisinau District Electoral Council to be registered as election contenders in the local mayoral elections. These are Mihail Polyanski, of the Civic Congress, who will be under No. 12 on the ballot, as it was decided by draw, and Victor Chironda, of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform, who will occupy the 13th spot on the ballot.

The information was confirmed for IPN by the Council’s head Viorica Gadîmba. Aspirants can apply to be registered until October 6 inclusive.

On the first day of submissions, the Council received applications from 11 aspirants for the post of mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau, staging a draw to decide their preliminary order on the ballot.

The order is now as follows:

1. Vasile Costiuc, Democracy at Home Party

2. Ruslan Codreanu, Electoral Bloc “Ruslan Codreanu”

3. Constantin Butucel, “We Build Europe at Home”

4. Ion Ștefăniță, “Respect Moldova” Movement

5. Diana Caraman, Communist Party

6. Lilian Carp, Party of Action and Soldiery

7. Anatol Usatyi, Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova

8. Vadim Brînzaniuc, European Social Democrat Party

9. Mihail Bagas, Party “League of Cities and Communes”

10. Ion Bulgac, Coalition for Unity and Wellbeing

11. Adrian Albu, Party of Socialists.

In the November 5 local general elections, voters are to elect 898 mayors and 11,058 local councilors. The election campaign starts on October 6.

Traffic on Minsk Street in the capital will be suspended from July 20-24. The restrictions target the section between Hanul Morii and Cetatea Alba streets, in the Botanica sector. To reach the area, drivers will be able to use Tașkent Street, reports IPN.

The measure was established based on a provision of the City Hall of Chisinau and is necessary for the execution of connection works to the water supply and sewerage networks on Tallin Street, 21.

During the interventions, temporary road signs and protective barriers will be installed in the area. After the completion of the works, the road surface will be restored.

The General Inspectorate of Police recommends drivers to drive cautiously, to respect temporary road signs and to choose alternative routes to avoid traffic jams and delays.
