The Romanian Prime Minister, Ilie Bolojan, has acknowledged the resignations of the PSD ministers and announced the list of cabinet members who will temporarily take over the vacant portfolios, to ensure the functioning of the executive, reports IPN.
During a press conference, the Prime Minister thanked the resigning dignitaries for their collaboration over the past 10 months, noting that the results achieved were the fruit of teamwork.
At the same time, Ilie Bolojan announced that the vacant portfolios will be redistributed as follows: the Minister of Investments will take over the Ministry of Labor, the Minister of Development will manage the Ministry of Health, the Minister of Defense will lead the Ministry of Transport, while the Minister of the Interior will take over the Justice portfolio.
Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna will ensure the interim at the Ministry of Agriculture, while Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu will take over the responsibilities of the resigning Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacsu. Prime Minister Bolojan will take over the Energy portfolio.
The reshuffle comes against the backdrop of a deep political crisis, after the PSD withdrew its political support for the liberal prime minister. However, the Social Democrats retained their state secretaries in the Government and announced that they will resign once a censure motion is filed.
