In the new academic year 2025-2026, 21,009 budgetary places will be made available in higher and technical professional education institutions, including, for the first time, places in dual education. Specialists will be trained in fields such as engineering, information technology, health, and agriculture, thus responding to the labor market needs in Moldova, reports IPN.
8 712 places are allocated to higher education institutions. Of these, 5 295 are for undergraduate and integrated studies, and 2 856 – for master’s programs. 435 places are intended for residency and secondary clinical studies. For foreign citizens, 126 budgetary positions are prepared.
Budgetary positions are concentrated in areas with a greater need for specialists, such as engineering, information technology, healthcare, agriculture, and environmental sciences. The plans take into account market demand and aim to motivate young people to pursue these fields.
A new element in the admission plan is the introduction of dual education in higher education, where students complement their theoretical training with practical experience provided by employers. Prime Minister Dorin Recean mentioned that the Government supports young graduates through a program that offers monthly allowances of 3 thousand lei in the first year of work.
In the technical professional sector, for the next year, 12 297 budgeted positions have been prepared: 6 630 for secondary technical vocational education, 1,737 – for dual education in the same cycle, 3 533 – for post-secondary and non-tertiary post-secondary education, as well as 397 dual positions in this segment.
Technical vocational training is provided in 81 institutions – centers of excellence, colleges, and vocational schools.
“We were expecting a higher admission this year. We encourage young people to familiarize themselves with the educational offerings of vocational schools and colleges in the country, and to seriously consider this study opportunity, because we offer scholarships, accommodation, and the chance of employment during studies, and a profession that is in high demand in the labor market,” emphasized the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun.
Special places are dedicated to candidates from the diaspora, to facilitate their return and integration into the national education system.
Last year, higher education institutions in Moldova offered a total of 8 697 budgetary places for admission. The most places were allocated in the fields of education, engineering, information and communication technology, medicine, and agriculture.
