Chisinau and Tiraspol will intensify dialogue in the Transnistrian settlement process, including at the level of expert groups, to solve the problems affecting the inhabitants on both banks of the Dniester. According to the OSCE Mission in Moldova, this agreement was reached at the meeting of political representatives held in Tiraspol, reports IPN.
During the 1+1 format meeting, the new head of the OSCE Mission in Moldova, Christopher Smith, expressed his confidence that representatives from Chisinau and Tiraspol can engage in a constructive and civilized dialogue, oriented towards the interests of the citizens. “I believe in your maturity and ability to conduct civilized discussions in the interest of residents on both banks”, he stated.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, reaffirmed the authorities’ commitment to a peaceful and sustainable resolution of the conflict, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. According to the Bureau of Reintegration Policies, the goal is the reintegration of the country and the restoration of a unique national space, and the identified solutions must bring concrete benefits to the citizens.
Among the topics discussed were the vehicle registration points in Tiraspol and Rabnita. The Moldovan side will explain the provisions of the relevant normative acts, so that they can operate efficiently, in accordance with previous agreements.
The parties also addressed the situation of high schools teaching in Latin script. In the case of the “Evrika” High School in Rabnita, the Transnistrian side will continue to develop and implement the mechanism for transferring the management of the building located on Gagarin Street, 14. International partners will support the establishment of necessary guarantees and the adaptation of the space to meet educational needs.
Additionally, Chisinau and Tiraspol have agreed to cooperate in identifying a suitable space in Grigoriopol for the operation of the “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” High School, with teaching in Latin script.
Another topic discussed was the Convergence Fund, aimed at reducing socio-economic disparities between the Transnistrian region and the rest of the country. According to the Reintegration Office, the funds will be directed towards social protection, health, education and infrastructure, through legal and transparent mechanisms.
The next meeting of the political representatives is set to take place by the end of the year.
