The Mother and Child Institute of Chisinau received a lot of medical equipment from Poland and the European Union. The devices will be distributed to a number of subdivisions of the institution, IPN reports.
In the donation ceremony, Poland’s Ambassador in Chisinau Tomasz Michał Kobzdej said that the previous year underscored the importance of the word “solidarity”. The crises and the pandemic required a very urgent response and solidarity has a separate significance for Poland. In the spirit of solidarity, the leaders of Poland, the Polish population expressed their wish to help the Republic of Moldova in these hard times. This was underlined by the President of Poland in July in a meeting with the President of Moldova, who took part in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral Moldovan-Polish relations.
“As a diplomat, as the representative of Poland, I’m very proud to see this state-of-the-art and sophisticated medical equipment that is donated to the Institute. Any support is important, but this donation is not only symbolical. Owing to the efforts made by the Prime Minister and other high-ranking officials, including those of the Ministry of Health, the Institute is outfitted with practically all the listed equipment and supplies,” stated the ambassador.
Mother and Child Institute director Sergiu Gladun said the Institute provides medical services to Ukrainian refugees as well. Since the war started in February, over 1,300 refugees have asked for assistance at different subdivisions of the Institute, while more than 400 patients were treated in stationary conditions. 64 female refugees gave birth at the Institute. “I want to thank you again for this gesture, for this support. I thank the Embassy of Poland for this assistance, the Delegation of the European Union that ensures the transportation of equipment,” stated Sergiu Gladun.
Attending the event, PAS MP Ana Oglinda said that she worked at this institution for 35 years, in the Intensive Care Unit, and knows very well the importance of the donated equipment. Owing to the Embassy of Poland and the Polish people, not only this project, but at least 15 projects intended for wards of the Mother and Child Institute were implemented. “This is the first part of the project, while the cooperation with the Embassy of Poland is in full swing, including the cooperation that will follow with the Institute of Mother and Child of Lodz for ensuring technology transfer,” stated the MP.
