The National Integrity Authority has initiated the procedure for verifying the wealth and personal interests of the deputy of the Socialist Party, Pavel Voicu, after potential discrepancies were identified in his statements for the period 2022-2025. The inspectors found that the reported asset changes could raise questions about the source of income and how it is used, reports IPN.
The initiation of the control was recorded in the minutes of February 12, after a complaint filed on January 13 raised suspicions about the financial means used in certain acquisitions. In the preliminary stage, the integrity inspector asked the politician to present documents confirming the ownership of the goods and the financial sources used. Subsequently, on February 2, Pavel Voicu submitted the requested documents, ANI specifies.
The analysis of statements and documents revealed inaccuracies and inconsistencies, including the uneven reflection of certain assets and the omission of some income. Due to the volume and complexity of the property changes, ANI decided to continue the checks through a full audit, “for a comprehensive, impartial and compliant assessment of the declarant’s property situation,” as mentioned in the minutes.
Pavel Voicu held the position of Minister of Internal Affairs in the years 2019-2020, in the governments led by Maia Sandu and Ion Chicu.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, Pavel Voicu did not answer the phone.
