The longest cable-stayed bridge in Romania, the Transylvania Bridge over the Someș River, was inaugurated in the city of Satu Mare and has a length of 644 meters, reports IPN.
“The Transylvania Bridge is more than just a structure made of concrete, steel, and iron. It is a new symbol of Satu Mare, an engineering marvel, and an economic landmark for our entire city,” said the mayor of Satu Mare, Gábor Kereskényi, quoted by Agerpres.
It is one of the most complex and ambitious infrastructure projects, as well as the longest cable-stayed bridge in Romania by length, according to the company Strabag.
The bridge has a harp-shaped design, supported by two pylons measuring 73 meters high and 56 high-strength steel cables. The suspended assembly that supports the bridge weighs 227 tons and is designed to bear a load of over 12,000 tons.
