Radu Miruță remains the Minister of Economy, after the simple motion initiated against him by AUR was rejected on Monday, October 13, in the Romanian Senate. The motion gathered only 34 “for” votes, while 66 senators voted “against”, and three abstained, reports IPN.
According to the press from across the Prut, the document initiated by 39 AUR parliamentarians bore the title: “Minister Radu Daniel Miruță – living proof that USR and PSD – PNL are the same filth. The Ministry of Economy – transformed into an employment agency for USR members and sympathizers.”
Before the motion was debated in plenary, three senators withdrew their signatures from the document.
According to USR, the Senate vote confirmed that Economy Minister Radu Miruta took the necessary measures to restructure the companies under the ministry’s authority, to make the conditions for competition for management positions more transparent, and to promote competence in state-owned companies, reports G4Media.
Radu Miruta stated that he is not demoralized by this motion, but rather saddened by the level to which public discourse has sunk. “How easily heavy words are thrown around, without evidence, just for political effect. This country won’t be fixed with promises and applause, but with people who roll up their sleeves and don’t shirk responsibility!” asserted the minister, according to the same source.
