The Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, states that the tenders through which the company Energocom purchases natural gas for the winter season of 2025-2026 are closely monitored by the legal authorities in the Republic of Moldova. The official mentioned that the entire procurement process is subject to strict supervision in order to ensure transparency and legality of the procedures, as reported by IPN.
“The auctions are monitored by the legal institutions of the Republic of Moldova. It is a monitored process,” declared Dorin Junghietu during the program “360 degrees” on Radio Moldova.
According to the minister, Energocom has already launched the auctions and is purchasing gas from the European market. However, the purchase price cannot be made public in order to not affect the competitiveness of the auction process.
“If the price is made public, automatically, all companies participating in the tender will submit offers with that price or even higher. And for this reason, we may lose competitiveness. So it is not in our interest,” explained the minister.
Dorin Junghietu mentioned that the final purchase price will be made public in autumn, after all contracts have been finalized. “When the entire volume of gas will be purchased and all contracts will be signed for the 2025-2026 gas year, the price will be made public. This will happen in the fall,” he specified.
The Minister also added that the price obtained by Energocom is in line with international market prices and includes all associated costs: transportation, distribution, and supply.
“The price serves as a reference for the current market and takes into account transportation fees. Just because we see a certain price on the stock market, it does not mean that the gas is purchased at that price. This is because there are also transportation, distribution, and supply fees involved,” pointed out the Minister of Energy.
