The violation of the voting secrecy and the absence of some voters from the electoral lists are among the irregularities reported through the monitorizez.eu platform, launched by the Election Observation Mission of the Union of Jurists from Moldova. The tool was made available to citizens to report incidents on the day of the vote.
At a press conference at IPN, Maxim Lebedinschi, head of the observation mission and president of the Moldovan Lawyers’ Union, said that the monitorize.eu platform had become an open tool for reporting any incident or electoral irregularity on election day.
Maxim Lebedinschi stated that, through the platform monitorizez.eu, violations of the voting secrecy were reported, including photographing voting ballots and unjustified group voting. On the election day itself, cases of electoral agitation were signaled, manifested through posters and electoral panels placed less than 100 meters from the polling stations, but also through messages supporting certain candidates or smear campaigns (black PR) against opponents, launched by various electoral competitors.
According to the head of the observation mission, there were established cases of organized transportation of voters to polling stations. In addition to this violation, cases of voter bribery were also cited, through the offering of money or food products.
Maxim Lebedinschi stated that among the reported violations are also the opening of polling stations earlier or later than the time established by the Electoral Code, as well as the presence of deceased persons on the voting lists.
