On the eve of the Moldovan Leu Day, the National Bank announces a new edition of the educational event “The Path of Money” for November 28. The action is intended for children and young people, who will have the chance to obtain information about how the national currency is issued and how it enters the economic circuit, reports IPN.
The journey will begin at the BNM headquarters, where participants will be guided to the Exhibition Hall – the space dedicated to the monetary history of Moldova. There, visitors will discover the evolution of the Moldovan leu over the 32 years since its circulation, the collection of commemorative and jubilee coins in gold and silver, as well as exhibits illustrating the transformations of the country’s monetary system.
During the practical session, participants will learn to identify the safety features of banknotes and will find out how they are protected from counterfeiting. The journey will continue at one of the licensed banks, where practical banking activity will be demonstrated.
“The growing public interest in visits to the National Bank shows that people want to better understand how the financial system works. Through events like the Money Trail, we contribute to the formation of a generation capable of making responsible decisions,” mentions the BNM governor, Anca Dragu.
To participate in the event, those interested must register. The visits will be organized in groups of 30-40 people, including companions. Registrations can be submitted until November 19.
The national currency of the Republic of Moldova was put into circulation on November 29, 1993.
