The 16-year-old boy who died on Sunday in the military unit in Cahul would have also been hit by the bullet that wounded a conscript, according to information provided by the General Inspectorate of Police. Previously, the police had preliminarily announced that the teenager would have died of a cardiac arrest, reports IPN.
“The police were informed by the forensic doctor examining the lifeless body of the minor, that preliminarily, he was penetrated by the bullet that injured the active duty soldier”, is stated in a press release issued by the IGP.
Law enforcement officials specify that the forensic examination continues in order to accurately determine the cause of death, and the soldier who fired the shot has been detained.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday at a military base in Cahul, where a 16-year-old teenager died and an 18-year-old conscript was injured in a shooting incident. The injured soldier was taken to the hospital, and doctors say his condition is stable and he is out of danger. The tragedy reportedly occurred while a contract soldier was mishandling a Glock pistol, which accidentally discharged.
