The Military Inspectorate will have expanded competencies. These include preventing corruption, verifying integrity, investigating suspicions of fraud, and managing public heritage. The decision is part of the new regulation, approved by the Government, regarding the organization and activity of the institution under the Ministry of Defense, reports IPN.
According to the regulations, the Military Inspectorate will approve construction and reconstruction projects of military objectives, will oversee public health and food safety in the army. Another responsibility is the control over curative and diagnostic activities within the Armed Forces, including through the organization of military-medical expertise.
The internal structure of the Inspectorate has been updated, and the responsibilities of the management – clarified. The head of the institution will coordinate the activities, approve the organizational chart and the regulations of the subdivisions, and ensure the application of legislation and standards in all areas of activity.
In addition, the regulation provides for close collaboration with public authorities, with relevant institutions from the country and abroad, and with non-governmental organizations.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the purpose of the changes is the efficient implementation of anti-corruption policies and the protection of public heritage, without implying additional expenses from the state budget.
