While the judges were reviewing the prosecutors’ request, dozens of the Bashkan’s supporters gathered outside the courthouse, chanting slogans in her support.

In the corridors of the court, Guțul told journalists that she had requested the court session to be public. The Bashkan of Gagauzia was detained at Chișinău International Airport on the evening of March 25.

She is involved in two criminal cases. In one of them, she is accused of fraudulent management of electoral funds, illegal financing, and making false statements during the electoral campaign for the election of the Bashkan of Gagauzia.

In the other case, law enforcement authorities accuse Evghenia Guțul and the secretary of the Central Office of the former Șor party of being complicit in the illegal financing of the political party and an electoral competitor on behalf of an organized criminal group.

The National Agency for Energy Regulation will examine on Friday the request from Energocom regarding the increase in natural gas prices. The subject was included on the agenda of the ANRE meeting on July 24, reports IPN.

Energocom has requested an increase in the regulated price for consumers connected to low-pressure distribution networks from 13.35 lei to 19.37 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT.

The request is motivated by the increase in natural gas procurement costs, against the backdrop of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the volatility of international markets. According to Energocom, these have generated an estimated tariff deficit of around 106 million lei.
