Dozens of students and teachers from the north and center of the Republic of Moldova will have the opportunity to discover new learning methods and opportunities to connect to the European educational space. The EDU-LINK MD project was launched in Bălți and will reach several districts, where high school students will participate in interactive workshops and interdisciplinary activities, reports IPN.
“To bring students closer not only to the Romanian language and its associated values, but also to a range of practical knowledge from chemistry, computer science, geology and other fields. We are talking about at least four high schools, four regional centers, each with a group of 20 students,” explained Dumitru Lisnic, university lecturer at the “Alecu Russo” State University of Bălți (USARB).
Six educational activities are planned as part of the project, to be held in Balti, Telenesti, Ungheni, Donduseni and Sangerei.
“They are attractive because they are located in the central and northern part of the Republic of Moldova. On the other hand, we tried to select other cities than those where we conducted activities last year, to offer other high school students the opportunity to participate in the activities of the educational center”, mentioned Maria Ignat, lecturer at the “Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, Faculty of Chemistry.
EDU-LINK MD is a continuation of the project initiated last year by the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, in partnership with the “Alecu Russo” State University of Balti. The new edition takes place from July to November and is funded by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova.
“These connections are very important for us to know each other, to harmonize our programs, methods, perspectives. We can share some of our accession, pre-accession experience”, declared Ionut Nistor, vice-rector at the “Ioan Cuza” University in Iasi.
For young people, such activities also mean new experiences beyond the classroom.
“It is a great benefit because it develops young people, makes them more involved. We need to work as a team, make more friends, communicate”.
“I am very pleased that this project from Romania is being implemented at USARB. I hope to gain more knowledge, make new friends. I believe this assistance will help me in the future. I think that any experiences bring new opportunities”.
“It is precisely the promotion of cultural, national values through the Romanian language. I understood that there will also be discussions about rocks, nanotechnologies, very diverse things. The most important thing is that authentic contexts will be created for students to speak in Romanian and to know as much as possible about Romanian culture”, emphasized Lilia Tambur-Trinca, the dean of the Faculty of Letters, USARB.
In total, around 100 high school students from the Central and Northern regions, as well as 30 teachers from both banks of the Prut, will be involved.
