Students from nine model schools are learning physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics in modernized laboratories with the financial support of the European Union. In total, 38 laboratories and mathematics classrooms have been renovated and equipped, reports IPN.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), the investments, worth over 150,000 euros, included repair works, as well as furniture and equipment provisions. The funding was allocated within a project implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.
The students say that the new laboratories have completely changed their way of learning: it’s no longer just about theory from textbooks, but about experiments, observations, and activities that help them understand the material much better.
The laboratories are equipped with instruments that allow students to conduct highly precise experiments. They can use sensors to measure temperature, pressure, light, or motion, and can observe biological and chemical processes under a microscope.
At the same time, in two of the nine institutions – “Grigore Vieru” High School from Briceni and “Mihail Ceachir” High School from Ceadir-Lunga – the school libraries have also been renovated.
In every library, a work area has been arranged, equipped with computers, desks with dividers, laptops, and a multifunctional printer. The value of the investment for these two libraries is over 91,000 euros, funding provided by a commercial bank.
The Model Schools Network is a project initiated by the MEC, aiming at the modernization and equipping of some general education institutions to high standards. The network was initially launched with 35 model schools, and later it was decided to expand it to 90 educational institutions. Out of these, 10 benefit from financial and technical support from the European Union and UNDP.
