The Party of Socialists (PSRM) commences protests on January 15. The Socialists will demand that the legislative body should immediately start work. The party’s leader Igor Dodon told a news conference that if the lawmakers do not show political maturity, Parliament should be dissolved, IPN reports.

“We start our activity by protests and meetings with the people from settlements to tell them what is going on. If the parties that entered Parliament do not show political maturity and are unable to reach compromises, the legislature should be dissolved,” stated Igor Dodon.

The politician also said that the Socialists made approaches, but the other MPs do not want to come together for a sitting because they are busy with sharing out the state posts and the control over financial flows.

The PSRM demands that the administration of the National Bank and of the acting Cabinet should be questioned in Parliament about the situation in the banking sector, especially at Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and Unibank. Also, the Cabinet’s administration should be questioned about the draft fiscal policy and daft state budget for 2015. “I call on my colleagues from Parliament to leave the personal ambitions aside. Come to Parliament to start work,” stated Igor Dodon.

The news conference was held in the Parliament Building. The Socialists demanded convening the sitting of the legislature, but were told that they do not have the right to demand this. The ordinary session of Parliament starts in February, while an extraordinary session can be called at the request of the President of Moldova, the Head of Parliament, who hasn’t been yet elected, or of 1/3 of the 101 MPs. The Socialist faction has 25 members and cannot thus demand convoking Parliament.
