The Parliamentary Committee for Economy, Budget and Finance organizes public hearings on Wednesday regarding the situation on the fuel market and the effects of the global oil crisis. The discussions will address the significant increase in fuel prices, the factors that have led to these developments and their impact on consumers and the economy, reports IPN.
During the hearings, the level of competition and the efficiency of regulatory and monitoring mechanisms will be analyzed. Furthermore, there will be discussions about petroleum product stocks, supply security and any necessary measures for the upcoming period.
The President of the Economic Commission, Radu Marian, specified that the representatives of the management of the National Agency for Energy Regulation, the Competition Council, as well as the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development are invited to the hearings.
Since the beginning of March, the price of diesel has increased by over 13 lei, reaching 33.80 lei per liter, while gasoline has become more expensive by almost 6 lei, up to 29.75 lei per liter. The authorities say that the increases were determined by developments in the international oil market, generated by tensions in the Middle East and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
